Demond Mason is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and has resided in Georgia for 19 years. Demond received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. He also received an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism Leadership from Yale International College Program through The Global International Alliance in Duluth, GA. He worked for The Coca-Cola Company for 16 years, but has now transitioned to running his online health and wellness nutrition franchise, as well as moving into real estate. Demond held a position in Project Management during his tenure with The Coca-Cola Company. He previously held the position of Vice President of Education through The Coca-Cola Company chapter of Toastmasters International. Demond has received several awards from this Toastmasters International chapter, such as best speaker and best table topics. In addition, Demond served as Chairman of the Board for Destined for Greatness Outreach Center, Incorporated in Atlanta, GA in 2014-2015.
Demond is well respected in his community and local religious assembly where he has served as the Director of Ministerial Alliance, Director of Married Couples Ministry, Executive Administrative Assistant and Financial Committee Officer. In 2020, Demond was ordained as the Pastor of Congregational Care and Intergovernmental Affairs at Now Faith Apostolic Ministries under the Leadership of Dr. C.H. Braddy. He has volunteered with several community service organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry, Books of Africa and the Aids Walk. Demond has also committed time to the Newton County Democratic Party as a District 2 full committee member and the former Parliamentarian. He is also a member of the Newton County chapter of the NAACP. Demond is also dedicated to his family and is happily married to Jasmine Mason. They have four wonderful children, Jaylon, Ariell , T.J. and Tristan.
Demond Mason has a proven record of business experience and servant leadership. He admires a quote from Nelson Mandela, which states, "It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership."
Commissioner Demond Mason supports constituents by the following completed and ongoing District 2 projects:
- Commissioner Mason has supported the development
of Facebook "Meta", along with many other retail
businesses to assist with providing property tax relief
for Newton County residents.
- Commissioner Mason has partnered with Georgia Piedmont
Technical College to offer the training needed where Newton
County residents can take advantage of local business
employment opportunities.
- Commissioner Mason has committed to working with
our local Sheriff's Department to increase the deputy
patrolling of District 2. Currently, the deputy patrol has
increased and more deputies are patrolling District 2
during high traffic and evening hours.
- Commissioner Mason supported the new Westside
precinct, which is now fully operational at 3612 Salem Rd.,
Covington, GA 30016. Their hours of operation are
Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM. Late evening
hours is subject to change and the precinct is closed
on County recognized holidays.
- Commissioner Mason supported the decision to widen
Salem Rd., which GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation)
has scheduled construction of this project to begin during
summer of 2023. You can find more details about this project

- Commissioner Mason established the District 2 HOA Alliance
and meets with the District 2 HOA Boards on a monthly basis.
The HOA Boards have been able to listen to several guest
speakers from various departments in Newton County and
speakers outside of Newton County that have empowered
them in becoming a more supportive HOA for their individual
subdivisions. They will soon be joining and taking advantage
of the training from Georgia HOA Alliance, Inc.
- Commissioner Mason has committed to working toward
building the District 2 Multigenerational Recreation Aquatic
Center. He is currently seeking funding to complete the project,
by way of grants, corporate sponsorships, private sponsorships,
State funding and SPLOST dollars. This facility will have an indoor gym, indoor walking track, fitness center, men and women locker rooms,
meeting rooms, small rooms for event rentals, educational
training rooms, huge multi-purpose room, therapeutic swimming
pool, Olympic size swimming pool and small indoor splash pad.
This facility will also have before and after school programs,
reasonably priced summer programs, athletic sport leagues,
a community garden, walking trails and much more.
- Commissioner Mason established The District 2 Clean Up
Newton Project. Every month, Commissioner Mason sets up
a day for volunteers and himself to clean up designated
areas of District 2. More and more volunteers are grabbing hold
to Commissioner Mason's vision of keeping our roadways clean and
jumping on board to assist each month. You can see more photos

- Commissioner Mason has committed to upgrading Denny Dobbs Park
by ensuring the completion of the first Splash Pad, establishing the first Skate Park, establishing the annual "Movies in the Park" in partnership with the District 2 small business vendors and Believers Fellowship Church. Commissioner Mason has also committed to working with our Economic Development Team to increase more Newton County jobs and working to bring more entertainment establishments to District 2.
- Commissioner Mason created three Facebook Live Discussions, which are Community Conversations, The Legal Series and Economic Exchanges, These social media series allow guests to speak on different subject matters while allowing Newton County residents to engage in a live Question and Answer session.
- Commissioner Mason created the Young Leadership Alliance, as an opportunity to meet with and hear the feedback from our young
leaders from the ages of 14-40. This monthly discussion allows this
age group a forum to discuss issues that they are experiencing
and gives them an outlet to discuss possible solutions. This will also allow them the opportunity to obtain educational leadership skills
that will empower them and in return helping in strengthening the future Newton County Community.
